Kuande Hall (he/him/his) joined the Newhouse School in Fall 2023 as a professor of practice in the public relations program. He teaches classes in social media and content optimization for PR writing.
Prior to joining Syracuse University, Hall was manager of the Social Media Training Office for the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Information School (DINFOS) at Ft. Meade, Maryland since 2018. He developed instructional plans and provided instruction for public affairs officers on communication and social media strategy, and public relations engagement. He also instructed military officers and senior enlisted personnel on public affairs, including news writing, communication skills across media channels and distribution of visual information in accordance with Department of Defense policy.
Hall served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2001 to 2015, including duties as a public affairs supervisor, web content chief/managing editor and social media chief. He has a comprehensive background in marketing, content development and social strategies derived from conducting domestic and global operations, including experience in branding, public and media relations campaigns and social media campaign development.
Hall earned a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Georgetown University, a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from Ashford University and an associate of arts degree from the University of South Carolina. He completed specialized military training in public affairs and writing, and is an alumnus of the Newhouse Military Photojournalism program.
