Jillian Mitchell

Jillian Mitchell (she/her) is the studio operations overdrive manager in the Dick Clark Studios. She assists in preparing the studios and control rooms for newscasts and productions, working with faculty, staff and students to coordinate rundowns with hardware and software. She directs weekly newscasts as part of the Newhouse broadcast and digital journalism curriculum and provides technical support for student labs and class projects, as well as for the ACC Network studio shows produced and directed by students. She teaches Avid Editing and Directing with Automation for the television, radio and film department and holds certifications in Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere and Photoshop.

Jill is a Syracuse native, and prior to joining Newhouse full time, she worked at the local ABC broadcast affiliate, WSYR-TV, as a newscast director, video editor, graphics operator, sports videographer and floor manager. There, she was part of the production crew who won the Edward R. Murrow Award for Newscast in Small Market Television and Overall Excellence in Small Market Television and two Syracuse Press Club Awards. She was a post support assistant for Towers Productions, Inc. in Chicago, working on shows like "Find Our Missing," "Mobsters" and "Fields of Valor: The Civil War."

Jill is an alumna of the Newhouse school, with a master of arts degree in television, radio and film, and graduated with a bachelor of science from Ithaca College.
