Edecio Martinez

Edecio Martinez is the Newhouse School's first executive director of instructional technology, a position created in September 2023. He oversees technology and TV engineering strategies and services at Newhouse, collaborating with leadership, faculty and staff to design and implement technology plans and champion standards befitting Newhouse’s reputation for cutting-edge facilities and academic excellence.

Martinez also providing strategic leadership in determining and developing a comprehensive, reliable and adaptive technology environment for the school. He serves as senior administrator of Newhouse’s information technology department and collaborates with faculty to identify technology that meets course objectives and supports research and activities. Martinez's responsibilities also include developing and nurturing relations with technology companies on behalf of the school.

Also on the faculty, Martinez has taught classes in cross-media writing, public affairs reporting, multimedia storytelling and data and digital journalism.

Martinez, who joined Newhouse in 2021, is an award-winning digital media professional with extensive reporting, writing and editing experience. He served as head of video at Ziff Davis for two years and was an executive producer with Condé Nast Entertainment before that. He has also held positions with Upworthy, The Weather Channel and CBS Interactive.
