Newhouse Students Have Strong Showing at NYSBA Excellence in Broadcasting Awards and ACP Clips & Clicks Contest

Newhouse students, channels and publications were showered with honors at this year’s New York State Broadcasters Association’s (NYSBA) Excellence in Broadcasting Awards and the Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) Clips & Clicks Sweepstakes.

Broadcasting students, NCC News and CitrusTV shined at the NYSBA awards, winning 11 of the 19 college categories.

Highlights included a pair of wins for CitrusTV for its coverage of President Biden’s Micron visit; Outstanding Series honors for the NCC Spotlight Team’s “Home and Held Hostage,” produced by students in Professor of Practice Jim Osman’s Spring 2022 investigative course; and Outstanding Social Media Personality accolades for alumna Teagan Brown ’23 for the second year in a row.

The NewsHouse and NCC News also had strong showings in the annual ACP student media contest, finishing second and fifth respectively.

Among the 15 honors were a sweep by NCC News and CitrusTV of the Broadcast News category; first place in News Photo by Bennett Hense and Feature Photo by Xinning Li, both for The NewsHouse; and the first reporting honors for the “Infodemic” project to alumna Sarah Dolgin ’23 and junior Karla Perez.
