Newhouse student work wins Awards of Excellence from Society for News Design

Four Newhouse alumni and one current student from four Newhouse programs took home Awards of Excellence for work done as students in the Society for News Design’s 2020 Best of Digital Design contest.

Emmy Gnat ’20, a former magazine major, won for her social media work for the 61% Project, a capstone project done by students in MND 504: Multimedia Projects, examining the pervasiveness of mental illness on college campuses.

Brooke Schneider ’20 (public relations), David Schneidman ’20 (newspaper and online journalism), Shannon Stubbs ’20 (magazine) and Kevin Camelo (senior, graphic design) won for their work doing social media for High Stakes, a special project from The NewsHouse examining the business and use of marijuana in New York State.

Katie Mulligan ’20, an alumna of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, was recognized for her illustration work on “How a Chatbot Helped Me Through My Breakup” for the 61% project.
