Syracuse University’s Forever Orange Scholarship provides half of the tuition for students who enroll full-time in a qualifying graduate degree or certificate program at Syracuse University. The scholarship is automatically available to all Class of 2025 graduating Syracuse University seniors who are eligible for admission—no separate scholarship application is needed. Graduating seniors who have already been admitted to a qualifying graduate program are also eligible.

Undergraduate Program: Film
Newhouse Master’s Program: Advertising
I was drawn to Syracuse because of the welcoming campus feel and the strong reputation of the film program in the College of Visual and Performing Arts. I was also really excited about the study abroad opportunities for undergrads, which ended up being a big factor in my decision to come here.
What really pushed me to continue my education and pursue a master’s at Newhouse was the school’s strong reputation—especially the advertising program. After talking with a few program advisors, advertising graduate program director Beth Egan in particular really sold me on the idea. Her insight and energy helped me realize this was the right move.
I first heard about the Forever Orange Scholarship from a friend who had done both undergrad and grad at Syracuse. They encouraged me to take advantage of it, and that stuck with me. I always knew graduate school was on the table, but I was not sure if I would go right after undergrad. The scholarship definitely helped make that decision easier.
I chose Newhouse because I already loved Syracuse and knew the Newhouse name carried weight. I only applied to the advertising program because I felt confident it was the right fit—it was the only place I wanted to go.
Some of the most exciting moments so far have been getting to connect with all the amazing professors in the advertising program and learning from classmates who bring totally different backgrounds and perspectives. I have also loved working as a classroom facilitator for Professor Melissa Martinez in the television, radio and film department. The opportunity has been a cool way to keep learning about film while applying what I am picking up in advertising.
There is really no wrong choice when it comes to programs at Newhouse. Each one has a ton to offer. If there is something you are passionate about, go for it! Trust yourself and do not overthink it. Once you are here, make the most of every moment, because it will go by so quickly!
