From the openings of new Syracuse University centers in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., that serve as homes for Newhouse programs to the launch of the new music business master’s program and online bachelor’s in strategic communications, look back at some developments and updates for University and school initiatives in 2024.

Syracuse University Opens New Center in Nation’s Capital

The center, located in the Dupont Circle area of Washington, will serve students, faculty, staff and alumni and help facilitate new or expanded offerings in the Newhouse DC program. It will also serve as the home of the University’s Institute for Democracy, Journalism and Citizenship.

Newhouse School Launches Bandier Music Business Master’s Program

The new master’s degree in music business expands on the success of the prestigious undergraduate program in the recording and entertainment industries. 

Newhouse Unveils New Online Bachelor’s in Strategic Communications

The new online program expands Newhouse offerings to students seeking flexibility with their schedule but the renowned academic rigor that comes with a Newhouse undergraduate education.  

The Alexia Launches New Scholar Initiative for Top Visual Storytelling Students, Young Professionals

Innovative Newhouse Collaboration With Support from Canon USA Leads to New Documentary

“A Tale of Two Cities: Reclaiming Niagara Falls and Salinas,” made by students at Newhouse and the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico, debuted in September at the Newhouse School.

Newhouse Recognizes Inaugural Emerging Technologies Faculty Fellowship Recipients 

The fellowship program is an extension of the school’s longstanding commitment to develop student excellence and advance faculty expertise in technology-driven communications tools and practices. Similarly, a key pillar of the Newhouse academic strategic plan involves expanding proficiency in advanced and emerging media. 

LA Story: New Space, Sports Program Expands Experiences in Los Angeles for Newhouse Students

A celebratory toast and ceremonial cutting of a ribbon marked the formal opening of the new home of the Newhouse School’s program in the entertainment capital of the world.  

Celebrating the enduring legacy of a well-loved alumnus, members of the University community marked the official opening of the new location of the Syracuse University Dick Clark Los Angeles Program in North Hollywood, California in March.
