The Newhouse Emerging Leaders (NEL) are ambassadors to the Newhouse school by mentoring students, building alumni engagement in their communities, and offering current industry perspective and graduating student feedback to Newhouse leadership. The NEL demonstrates their commitment to Newhouse through active participation and annual giving.
The Newhouse Emerging Leaders exists to support the dean of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. It is a volunteer leadership group composed of Syracuse University graduates and supporters of the University who believe in the power of volunteerism and philanthropy. This volunteer board consists of individuals working in various facets of the communications industry. Members are highly engaged and attuned to the ever-changing industry landscape. Members work with Newhouse School leadership, faculty, and staff to create solutions for students and alumni by advancing professional networking, educational growth and innovation opportunities. Members embody the ideals of the Newhouse School and proudly represent the school within their chosen career fields.

Amanda Quick
Amanda Quick ‘14, ’G16, was a beloved member of the Newhouse Emerging Leaders board. While on campus, Amanda was involved with Z89 Radio, the National Association of Black Journalists, Newhouse Peer Advisors and The Daily Orange.
She graduated magna cum laude from Newhouse with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast and digital journalism, including minors in marketing and Chinese studies. She also received a master’s in information management from the School of Information Studies.
She was a senior manager at American Express, and before joining Amex she worked at KPMG for six years as a consultant. She advised various Fortune 100 and 500 companies in the healthcare, finance and TMT areas.
In 2024, Amanda was honored with Syracuse University’s Generation Orange award, celebrating what it means to be Forever Orange.
