The SXSW Pitch Co-op Internship Program is an exclusive opportunity open only to students enrolled in Newhouse entrepreneurship classes. Interested students can apply for this program, which involves a comprehensive process of discovering and vetting hundreds of startups for participation and pitching at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival every March in Austin, Texas. Co-op interns work from September till March as researchers, then get to go to the festival as fully-badged attendees.
This immersive experience provides students with hands-on practice in startup evaluation; networking opportunities with industry professionals and entrepreneurs; and exposure to cutting-edge innovations and trends in technology and media. The program serves as a powerful link between classroom theory and real-world application, offering participants a unique insider’s view of the startup ecosystem.
Since 2011, Newhouse students have gone to SXSW to meet founders, innovators, creators, investors and thought leaders. SXSW is like stepping three years into the future of film, VR, television, online channels, branded entertainment, sports, music, health and wellness, and more. Past students have said it has been life-changing and career enhancing.
