Deans, associate deans, faculty and experienced journalists are invited to apply for the higher education leadership immersion.
Meeting expectations of university leaders, alumni and students, building bridges with faculty and staff, and fostering creativity and innovation are among the key topics that participants of the Scripps Howard Leadership Academy at Newhouse will examine this summer.
The immersive training program returns to Syracuse University after a successful debut at the Newhouse School in 2023. The Scripps Howard Leadership Academy at Newhouse is designed for higher education leaders or those interested in learning about the challenges and rewards of leading journalism or mass communications schools, including deans, associate deans, department chairs, faculty and experienced journalists.
Attendees last year arrived from universities across the country. The application portal for the 2024 cohort opened Wednesday with a submission deadline of March 15. The Scripps Howard Leadership Academy is scheduled to take place July 22-25.
The comprehensive program will provide selected participants hands-on experiences to navigate the responsibilities as senior leaders for journalism and mass communications schools. There is no cost for the selected attendees, with the program covering travel, accommodations and program fees.
The Scripps Howard Leadership Academy is a partnership between the Newhouse School and the Scripps Howard Fund.
