Newhouse off-campus programs are open to all Newhouse majors, Syracuse University students with home college approval, and communication majors from other colleges or universities.
If you are a communications major or minor, or in a related field of study, we would love to see you in one of our off-campus locations. You will earn a semester of Newhouse credits while learning from Newhouse instructors, guest speakers, mentors and accomplished alumni.
As a Newhouse student, you will have access to résumé and cover letter assistance as well as support, resources and guidance to secure an internship within the communications or entertainment industries.

Newhouse Student Eligibility
- Junior or senior standing (60 credits completed) completed by the start of your semester in Los Angeles, New York or Washington, D.C.
- Students are required to meet with their academic adviser to discuss a plan for degree progression that includes their intention to study off-campus.
- Good academic, judicial and financial standing.
- For dually enrolled students, in the College of Arts and Sciences or Whitman School of Management, submit the home college approval form with your application to the program of our choice. (Newhouse DC / Newhouse LA / Newhouse NYC)
Non-Newhouse Syracuse University Student Eligibility
- Junior or senior standing (60 credits completed) completed by the start of your semester in Los Angeles, New York or Washington, D.C.
- Students are required to meet with their adviser to discuss your academic program plan.
- Non-Newhouse majors are welcome with home college approval.
- Good academic, judicial and financial standing.
- Duals, Newhouse minors and non-Newhouse students should email your application and your home college approval form to the program of our choice. (Newhouse DC / Newhouse LA / Newhouse NYC)
