Karen joined the Newhouse communications team in March 2023 in the newly created position of assistant director of marketing. She is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of an integrated digital content strategy that supports school priorities and targets key audiences. Recommending and implementing best practices in content strategy marketing, Karen will help drive audience awareness and engagement across Newhouse’s marketing channels and help grow the school’s web traffic and social reach through engaging digital content.
Karen arrived at Newhouse from Thermo Fisher Scientific, where she was senior marketing manager for the multibillion-dollar biotech company. She oversaw the rebranding and redevelopment of company websites, wrote strategic marketing content, produced video and helped to increase traffic to a Thermo Fisher Scientific division website by more than 400% through search engine optimization and other web strategies. Before Thermo Fisher Scientific, Karen was the original marketing and communications manager at Core Informatics, an internet startup in Connecticut.
Formally a broadcast journalist, Karen worked for nearly two decades as a producer or community affairs director at TV stations or production companies in Ithaca and Syracuse, as well as Allentown, Pennsylvania and New Haven, Connecticut. She is a graduate of Cornell University.
