Emily Kulkus

Emily Kulkus is an award-winning communicator with more than 20 years of experience in journalism, publishing, editing, marketing, public relations, teaching and management. She is currently a reporter at The Post-Standard and Syracuse.com. She previously worked as a content manager at Terakeet and in public and media relations at Upstate University Hospital. She has taught in the M.S. in communications program since it began and is the former web content manager for the Newhouse School. 

Emily has worked in a variety of positions for Advance Local and the Syracuse Newspapers including assistant managing editor for features and reporter on the investigations/enterprise team. She has won awards for her reporting and editing and has extensive experience with social media. She has also worked as an adjunct newswriting professor and tutor for Newhouse’s advanced military visual journalism program.
