Following 30 years in agency and corporate public relations work, Anthony D’Angelo, APR, Fellow PRSA, joined the Newhouse School as a professor of practice in public relations in 2015. He directed the master’s program in communications management from 2016 to 2023, when he was named interim department chair in public relations and director of Newhouse executive education programs before becoming chair in 2024. He also directs the Financial and Investor Communications Emphasis (FICE).
D’Angelo has held leadership roles in the corporate, agency and not-for-profit sectors, most recently for ITT Corporation and previously for St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Magna International, United Technologies and Sage Marketing Communications. His writing and commentary on strategic communications have been featured in The New York Times, Business Week, the Financial Times, USA Today, CNBC, Reuters, Forbes, Sports Illustrated and other outlets. He was also a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal’s “Crisis of the Week” column.
D’Angelo co-authored a textbook, “Public Relations Writing Worktext: A Practical Guide for the Profession” in 2025, and was editor-in-chief of “75 Years of Impact and Influence: People, Places & Moments in Public Relations History,” published in 2022. He served as co-chair of the Commission on Public Relations Education from 2020 to 2021, and was the Public Relations Society of America’s national chair in 2018.
In 2025, D’Angelo was named one of the 100 most influential PR professionals in the world by Propel, a PR management software company that publishes its list of leaders who are “transforming how brands, organizations and people connect around the world.”
