Jason Webb (he/him/his) joined the visual communications department in the Newhouse School in Fall 2023 as a tenure-track assistant professor. He teaches classes in Motion Design, Character Animation, 2D and 3D Animation, Augmented and Virtual Reality.
Prior to joining the faculty at Syracuse University, Webb has been an online learning analyst at Syracuse University. He also has taught multiple courses as an adjunct professor at the Newhouse School and the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Prior to that he was an itinerant computer education specialist.
Webb’s research focuses on XR in Education with a goal creating educational content that is challenging and exciting for students to learn from. His work looks to push the boundaries of technology in storytelling.
Subsequent research has been as the lead facilitator for EDUCAUSE Learning Lab – XR in Research. His recent publications focus on remote-instruction and fostering student creativity using technology.
Professor Webb is a certified educator with professional affiliations from Adobe, Apple, Google, Microsoft and EDUCAUSE XR.
Webb is currently a doctoral student pursuing his Ph.D. in teaching and curriculum from the School of Education at Syracuse University. He received an M.A. from Newhouse in television, radio and film in 2017, an M.S. in technology education from Oswego State in 2005 and a B.S. in 2001 in technology education from Oswego State.
