Prior to joining Dow Jones, Lewis was senior producer at “CBS This Morning” and operations manager for “The CBS Evening News” and CBSN. Earlier in his career, he worked at BET News, NBC Universal and ABC News.
“Rob Lewis exemplifies the very best of the Newhouse School,” says Newhouse dean Mark J. Lodato. “His successful tenure at some of the country’s premiere news outlets combined with his deep affinity for Syracuse University will be a tremendous resource for us moving forward.”
Lewis is an alumnus of the Newhouse School’s television, radio and film program and completed the Executive Leadership Development Program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.
As a scholar/athlete for Syracuse University men’s soccer, Lewis was a member of the team that won the very first Big East Championship, and he earned All-Conference and team MVP honors as a senior. A lifelong athlete, he is working to complete his 3rd Dan Black belt in taekwondo and is also trained in jiujitsu, muay thai and karate.
Lewis serves as a board member for the Incorporated Village Zoning Board of Appeals and the Dr. Stanley L. Ralph Performing Arts Academy. He is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications and the National Association of Black Journalists.
Lewis and his wife, Dawn Thomas, met as undergraduates at Syracuse University and are the parents of three children: Danielle, a Newhouse alumna, Kyra and Robert Jr.
The Newhouse Advisory Board supports the dean, faculty and staff in their efforts to make the Newhouse School the country’s leading institution for education and research in communications.
