Syracuse University won the Cynopsis Sports Media Award for collegiate production, a classic media industry insider newsletter.
The Annual Cynopsis Sports Media Awards have one collegiate honor, and that went to the team of Newhouse students who, all year, produce live studio pregame and postgame shows for www.cuse.com and live studio half-time shows for ESPN’s ACC Network Extra.
“It’s an honor for our students and school to be on this list with industry leaders,” says Newhouse Sports Media Center director Olivia Stomski, who oversees the productions which started in 2017. Students who work on these shows get hands on experience in live sports television, says Stomski, so by their junior and senior years, they have an impressive amount of professional experience producing, directing and hosting.
“Almost every alumnus who has worked on these shows is working in the field now,” says Stomski. “It’s an incredible opportunity.”
