Adobe Creative Cloud offered to Newhouse students for 2020-21 academic year

Whether working on campus or off, Newhouse School students will have access to Adobe Creative Cloud during the 2020-21 academic year.

The set of applications and services includes software used for graphic design, video editing, web development and photography, among other disciplines. At Newhouse, Adobe Creative Cloud will be integrated across academic departments and programs as a tool for enhancing students’ digital literacy.  Funded through program fees, access will be given to any student enrolled in a Newhouse course.

“Providing students with the Adobe Creative Cloud assures that Newhouse School students will have access to the state-of-the-art software needed to succeed in communications today,” says Dean Mark J. Lodato. “In an academic year that demands ultimate flexibility, this partnership gives our students all of the tools necessary to succeed, regardless of where or how they’re engaging in class.”

Adobe Creative Cloud is useful in nearly all of the school’s programs.

Lodato says credit for this latest collaboration goes to Brian Tibbens, Newhouse’s director of technology, who negotiated the agreement.

The Newhouse School, the nation’s leading communications school, and Adobe, a world leader in creative software, have partnered for many years. The company has co-sponsored workshops and educational initiatives like the Empire State School Press Association conference, the visual communication department’s annual Fall Workshop and the Pixels vs. Print design workshop.

The Newhouse School is an Adobe certified testing center, allowing students to earn certification in Adobe technologies. The school is also a participant in Adobe Creative Campus, which recognizes the value of teaching digital literacy skills in higher education.
