Toner Prizes Celebration

Monday March 25th, 2024

Virtual (See event details)

Join us as we celebrate the winners of the 2024 Toner Prizes for Excellence in Political Reporting. We are honored to have North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper as our keynote speaker. NPR White House Correspondent Asma Khalid, who hosts “The NPR Politics Podcast,” will serve as master of ceremonies.

The Toner Prizes, presented by Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, recognize and reinforce quality, fact-based political reporting—work that illuminates the electoral process, reveals the politics of policy and engages the public in democracy.

Two prizes are given: One for local political reporting and one for national political reporting. The prizes were established by the School in honor of late alumna Robin Toner ’76, the first woman to serve as national political correspondent for The New York Times.

The Toner-Gosselin family will also recognize special guest Cecile Richards, New York Times bestselling author of “Make Trouble” and the former president of Planned Parenthood with whom Robin Toner dealt in reporting on women’s issues from Washington.
