Tully Center for Free Speech

The Tully Center for Free Speech promotes and supports free speech through research, education and a series of events, including the annual Tully Award for Free Speech.

The Tully Center regularly invites speakers, including winners of the Tully Award, to the Newhouse School to discuss issues affecting freedom of speech and of the press. Past speakers include noted First Amendment lawyer Floyd Abrams, John Shipton, (pictured above) father of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, media tech pioneer Chet Kanojia and many others on the forefront of free speech challenges including Daniel Ellsberg, Mary Beth Tinker and Larry Flynt.
