2023 Grant Judging Weekend
Now in its 32nd year, The Alexia grant competition received hundreds of submissions from 54 nations. Submissions will be judged based on the overall quality, feasibility and outcomes of the project proposal as well as the imagery provided during live judging March 31–April 1 at the Newhouse School.
The Alexia student category will be judged March 31 by Gail Fletcher of The Guardian, Nicole Werbeck of NPR and David Gonzalez of The New York Times. They will judge the professional category April 1. Both days will be moderated by Whitney C. Johnson, VP for visuals and immersive experiences at National Geographic.
This year’s grant submissions come from 54 nations and all corners of the world: Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Georgia, Germany, Guatemala, Honduras, Iceland, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kashmir, Kenya, Lithuania, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tanzania, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, UAE, UK, USA, Venezuela, Vietnam.
Professional and student grant winners will be announced in mid-April, along with runners-up and award of excellence recognitions. Sony will award both first-place winners a camera and lens. (#sonyedu)
