The Toner Program was established at the Newhouse School in 2009 to celebrate the life and work of late alumna Robin Toner ’76, the first woman to serve as national political correspondent for The New York Times.
The program includes the annual Toner Prizes for Excellence in Political Reporting, each of which carries a $5,000 honorarium. The prizes are awarded at the Toner Celebration in Washington, D.C., a gala gathering of political stars, alumni and prominent communications professionals. In addition, the prize winners visit campus to meet students and deliver the annual Toner Lecture.
The 2025 Toner Prizes submission period opens Dec. 1, 2024. Check back here for more updates.
