In 2010, nine students traveled to Makhanda (formerly Grahamstown), South Africa in 2010, sending their reports to The Stand, the newspaper serving Syracuse’s South Side.
The “big idea” behind all of this: To produce video profiles of the residents of two similar cities on opposite sides of the globe. Our students found that while the cities were a world apart, the people were not. People—indeed—have a great deal in common. They hope to live well, so that others who follow will live better.
