The Newhouse School has offered the M.S. in communications management since 1995. Relaunched in 2020, the program now features a flexible online format that creates a more collaborative learning environment. It is designed for experienced, working communications professionals who want to advance without putting their careers on hold.
The online M.S. in communications management program empowers you to lead in an industry experiencing exponential technological advancement. You’ll build critical leadership competencies in finance, digital communications strategy and applied research, as well as specialized expertise in topics like media law, multimedia storytelling and inclusive leadership.
To be eligible for admission into the online M.S. in communications management program, you must have at least three years of work experience as well as a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Developed through research on how students learn best online, the online M.S. in Communications Management program provides a flexible, collaborative experience. Live, face-to-face classes are hosted via Zoom, where most sessions are capped at 15 students to promote interactive discussion.
Over the course of the program, you’ll attend two in-person immersions on the Syracuse University campus and in select domestic and international cities. These weekend-long excursions enable you to develop hands-on skills and meet peers, faculty and industry leaders.
