Newhouse Diversity News Fellowship

The Newhouse Diversity News Fellowship is a highly competitive 18-month program that provides two generous awards each year to minority students.

The winners study in the magazine, newspaper and digital journalism master’s program at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. While attending classes, students work as part-time reporting interns for Advance Media New York, where they build clips and get on-the-job training.

Advance Media New York provides 24/7 digitally focused news and information to Central New York through two major brands, Syracuse.com and the Post-Standard.

Fellows receive full tuition scholarships, $1,600-per-month stipends, health insurance coverage, up to $1,500 to cover moving expenses to Syracuse, up to $800 for travel to professional conferences and up to $1,000 for books, equipment, fees and other academic expenses.
