Newhouse students have the unique opportunity to cover political events, from local campaigns in Syracuse to the first-in-the-nation presidential primaries in New Hampshire to the presidential nominating conventions.
Seventeen students traveled to New Hampshire in January 2024 to cover the first-in-the-nation presidential primary. This summer, over two dozen students covered the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee from July 15-18 and the Democratic National Convention in Chicago from Aug. 19-22. They all relentlessly prepared before arrival; learning, reading and watching all they could about the events and candidates. While there, they wrote stories and created packages for TV stations and professional media outlets.
The January primary coverage is below and click the buttons to see the RNC and DNC coverage.
