Meet the 2023 Creative Advertising Graduates

Art Directors

Native to Brooklyn, I have always had an appreciation for my borough’s culture and people, which serves as the fuel for my own ambitions and work. Taking multiple interests in art direction, design, creative marketing and the digital world, I seek to utilize my abilities, skills and empathy to create work that will leave a lasting impact.

Creativity is in my blood, whether it be designing my Barbie dream world as a kid or aspiring to create the next unforgettable ad. My passion is in my work, and my work is driven by my curiosity. Solving advertising problems in imaginative ways piques that curiosity and fuels my passion for breaking norms and defying expectations. I truly love what I do, and I strive to do it at the highest level.

I’m a born-and-raised green-blooded Philly boy and definitely didn’t grow up 40 minutes away in Delaware. Yes, it’s a state.

Creativity is a power that most of those take for granted. We have the ability to create conversations and solve problems in the world all from an idea that we thought of when we were brushing our teeth. I love the process of concepting to finalizing especially when it comes to an idea I am passionate about. I never think I am working, but rather solving a puzzle, piece by piece.

Knocked on the doors of shower cubicles, asking strangers if they could lend me their shampoo because I forgot to bring mine on a hot summer day when I went swimming. A bit embarrassed at the moment, but anyways, I got what I wanted.

This year, I’ve broken three Keurigs. I wait 45 minutes for my coffee to brew every morning. It reminds me that, like creativity, sometimes the best things take time and patience to make (and that I need a new coffee machine).

I am a dessert before dinner kind of gal which is why my friends say I have the biggest sweet tooth ever. I am also an art director with an undeniable craving for creativity. Adding these two together, one could say I make ads to satisfy my hunger for creativity, even if it means breaking a few rules.

My teachers used to tell me to quit doodling. I’m glad I didn’t listen.

Former finger painter, current art director. Big fan of completing sudoku (problem solving), dominating at Uno (strategy) and placing dishes in the dishwasher like I’m playing Tetris (visual thinking). Love Island enthusiast, airport security aficionado and Trader Joes devotee.

I have always had a thing for art. I first picked up a paintbrush at the age of four, creating a piece that I called “Mary Poppins meets Dr. Seuss.” I spent my childhood doodling pen tattoos on my mom’s arms, scrapbooking, exploring fashion interior design and documenting my summers on video. My curiosity about art and storytelling is part of my identity. My eagerness toward and technology drives my passion for art direction and creative problem solving. I’m a dreamer, so if it ever looks like I’m zoning out, I’m really thinking of what to create next.

As a child, I used to make my mountains purple, despite being told to make them brown. So, I became an Art Director, where I work with people who want to see my unconventional purple mountains.

I’m a Florida girl that loves her Jeep. Painting and creating art were my favorite means to express myself growing up, and it still is. The biggest fear for my immigrant parents was that I would end up a starving artist (and not a lawyer). So I chose to be an art director, that way I wouldn’t starve too much.

I thoroughly love life and the many aspects that make it so great. One of those is a fresh slice of pepperoni pizza (with a side of ranch, obviously). Another is that I get to connect with others by writing and creating fun, exciting new ideas as a career. It really doesn’t get better than that! Now I just have to find people who will accept me for eating strawberries whole, stem included (I promise it’s not as bad as you think).

In Korean culture, it’s a popular tradition to celebrate a child’s first birthday with a fortune telling game where the parents lay out several symbolic items in front of the baby (i.e. money for wealth or rice for prosperity). The one item that the baby picks will ultimately predict the type of person they’ll be when they grow up. Although I didn’t end up choosing the money (to my parents’ dismay), I must’ve known very early on that I was destined to write some stellar copy when I picked up that pen.

My name is Julia Gershowitz. I always have music playing in my head and my notes app is my rock. So, what do I bring to the table? The answer is passion, dedication and sometimes bagels. The longer explanation is obscure SNL references, endless curiosity, deep insights on life, character analyses and a sense of humor that always finds a way into the conversation.

An Incomplete Timeline of my relationship with words. Eight years old: Won my local library’s young author contest for the book “Goats in the Basement” (which is still in circulation if you ever find yourself in Carroll County, Ohio). 11 years old: Was the editor, publisher, illustrator and distributor of a handwritten “newspaper” complete with a gossip column and weekly comic strip. 15 years old: Decided I was a poet after reading Walt Whitman and decided to run a poetry Instagram full of teenage angst. 18 years old: Authored a short biography about a spider named Fred so my group of campers wouldn’t scream when they saw one in the cabin. 22 years old: Well, if you’ve made it this far then you know most of the writing I’m up to now, but in my free time, I also dabble in helping my friends craft Instagram captions and texts to their situationship.

Hi, I’m Noah, the one on the right. I was once punched in the face on the way to my internship. I still arrived at the office at 8:53 am. It’s not about how hard you get hit. It’s about how quickly you can get to the office fridge for an ice pack.

My mom’s favorite. She’d never tell you that, but you can ask any of my six siblings and they’ll agree.
